Introduction to Orthotics, A Clinical Reasoning & Problem-Solving Approach, 4th Edition by Coppard and Lohman covers the theory, design, and fabrication of orthotic devices and helps you master the skills you need to choose and fit effective orthoses for patients with hand injuries and functional deficits. It emphasizes upper extremity splinting, with additional coverage of lower extremity orthotics and upper extremity prosthetics, and offers case studies promoting clinical reasoning and problem solving.

The book entitled Spasticity: Diagnosis and Management by Dr. Brashear and Dr. Elovic is the first book completely dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of spasticity. Saebo’s premiere product, the SaeboFlex, is displayed on the cover of the book. This text is a one-stop source for physicians, therapists and other members of the spasticity management team tasked with the goal of improving patient care and outcomes.

The Stroke Recovery and Rehabilitation book edited by Stein, Harvey, Macko, Winstein, and Zorowitz is an evidenced-based comprehensive guide for complete continuum of care. Saebo is proud to be referenced in Chapter 31 entitled “Orthotic Management in Stroke”. This section describes the SaeboFlex and its clinical relevance with respect to the hemiplegic upper limb. Stroke Recovery and Rehabilitation is thought to be the new gold standard reference for the management of stroke patients. If you provide treatment for patients suffering from stroke, then this book may be an excellent addition to your clinical library.

Pedretti's Occupational Therapy: Practice Skills for Physical Dysfunction gives a comprehensive, in-depth overview of occupational therapy history and theory, the occupational therapy process and practice, evaluation and intervention in the occupational performance areas, performance skills and client factors, implementation of intervention, and intervention applications. Saebo is discussed as a treatment option for neurological patients with emphasis on the concept of “distal to proximal paradigm shift”.

Stroke Rehabilitation: A Function-Based Approach, 3rd Edition by Glen Gillen is a comprehensive, evidence-based stroke rehabilitation resource for occupational therapists. Extensively updated with the latest research in assessment and intervention, this text presents a holistic, application-based approach that integrates background medical information, samples of functionally based evaluations, and current treatment techniques and intervention strategies. The SaeboFlex is featured on page 302 in the chapter “Rehabilitation Technologies to Promote Upper Limb Recovery after Stroke” stating that the orthosis “has good potential to provide low-cost, repetitive motor training to persons with moderate motor impairments after stroke”.

The book entitled Occupational Therapy Interventions: Function and Occupations by Meriano and Latella is a unique, comprehensive text that provides the essential information needed to know about the physical dysfunction intervention process. This book reviews various treatment interventions, including Saebo, for neurologically involved patients.

The book entitled Orthotic Intervention for the Hand and Upper Extremity by Jacobs and Austin provides orthosis patterns for most upper extremity diagnoses and provides the information for the best solution whether to fabricate a splint, cast or tape, or choose a custom fabricated solution. This easy-to-use reference highlights anatomical and biomechanical principles, discusses associated indications and precautions, and details common orthotic interventions and how research informs practice with evidence-based examples.
