Two years ago I experienced a stroke that resulted in left-sided weakness and loss of all function and sensitivity in my left hand. The lack of sensitivity in my hand was so extreme that at one point, when I was pulling something out of the oven, I started to smell burning flesh. I looked down and saw that my hand was laying on the coils of the oven without my awareness. The result of this was a second-degree burn. The loss of my hand function was already devastating enough; I became frightened that with continued accidents my hand would be damaged beyond repair.

Then I noticed the SaeboStim Micro on the Saebo website. I was intrigued, as this product is designed to deliver electrical stimulation to the arm and hand, in order to rebuild the nerve pathways that were damaged by my stroke. I signed up to “test drive” it. Amazingly, within one week of using the SaeboStim Micro, I noticed a significant improvement in my hand sensitivity. Suddenly, my hand was pulling away from the heat of the oven door all on its own. My occupational therapist recently gave me a temperature test with ice and I identified the location of the ice on my hand with 50% accuracy. I never could have done that before. Needless to say, I decided to purchase the SaeboStim Micro and now I wear it for much of the day. I know from the research that sensitivity is a precursor to function, so I am hopeful that I will continue to see improvement in my ability to use my hand over time. This is the first improvement I have had in over a year, so it’s pretty exciting!
