Saebo Inc., founded in 2001 by two occupational therapists (OTs), started with one individual; a young stroke survivor who was unable to use his affected hand functionally and therefore was limited in his ability to participate in his previous activities. The SaeboFlex, a dynamic wrist and hand orthoses, was designed and developed to restore his ability to open and close his hand. He was then able to use his affected arm and hand in a therapeutic repetitive task-oriented program based on emerging research that documented the ability of the brain to forge new pathways.

Since then, Saebo Inc. has become a leading global provider of innovative evidence-based rehabilitation products and is still owned and operated by clinicians.  With Saebo’s dedication to education, through the provision of AOTA approved continuing education courses, their products are now being used by therapists in over 22 countries to help stroke survivors and other neurologically impaired individuals take advantage of the same evidence-based treatment approaches. Saebo’s products and programs are now included in OT/PT and Neurorehabilitation textbooks and studies have been completed and published by leading researchers.

Saebo Inc. started with the desire to improve the life of one individual. Through the company’s continued efforts, drive, and motivation, Saebo’s products and programs now educate therapists all over the world and help to improve the lives of a population; individuals with stroke and other neurological impairments.

Saebo Inc. remains committed to helping individuals with neurological impairments around the globe achieve a new level of independence. Saebo’s goal is to continue to be a leading provider of neurological rehabilitation programs and continuing education.

In an effort to further support Saebo’s goal of being a leading provider of education, this blog is being established as a resource with the intent of providing useful and relevant clinical and evidence-based information to its readers so that we may all continue to improve and enhance the quality of life of those we serve.
