#1 DOCTOR RECOMMENDED
  • A Name You Can Trust – More doctors and hospitals recommend Saebo products for stroke rehabilitation than any other brand.
  • Backed by Research – To maximize recovery following a stroke (or other neurological injury), doctors understand the critical importance of “grasp and release” hand exercises. As the saying goes: “Use it or loose it”.  Using your hand throughout the day and during high-repetition therapy sessions builds new connections in the brain (cortical plasticity) and offsets the negative impacts of neglect (atrophy and spasticty) which can lead to a painful and useless “claw-fist.”Read about exciting new research featuring the SaeboGlove here
  • Patient-Based Design – Our products are developed by doctors and clinicians incorporating years of “hands-on” experience with patients just like you. Here are some of “patient-based” features you’ll find on our unique and patented SaeboGlove design:

FAQs

How does it work?
  • Following a neurological injury, it is common for clients to experience impaired arm and hand function, resulting in decreased sensation and/or strength.
  • When an arm has limited use, it can lead to impaired communication to the brain, including sense of touch, feel, or awareness of movement.
  • The only way to maximize recovery is by receiving enough training and stimulation to the affected side. The SaeboStim Micro can is the perfect solution to add to your recovery toolbox.
  • The SaeboStim Micro provides low-level sensory stimulation to the arm and hand.
  • Low-level sensory stimulation does not produce a muscle contraction yet still provides stimulation to the arm and hand, which increases the signals sent to the brain. These signals excite the brain and help to improve recovery.

The SaeboStim Micro consists of 3 components.

  • The first component is a glove and arm garment made of Electro-Mesh conductive material, which consists of silver-treated nylon and Dacron® fibers. This material is soft and comfortable and can be worn at rest or during daily functional activities, providing stimulation to the hand and arm.
  • The second component is the world’s smallest stimulator, complete with an LCD display screen and push-button controls. The stimulator controls the intensity of the stimulation sent to the arm and hand via the lead wires.
  • The last component is a set of black and red lead wires that go from the stimulator and attach to the glove and arm sleeve. These wires are the pathways that provide the electrical current, which you control.
How do I know it is right for me (or my patient)?

The SaeboStim Micro is designed for individuals who have had injuries that result in:

  • Spasticity.
  • Arm and/or hand pain.
  • Arm and/or hand edema.
  • Temperature changes in the hand.

Some diagnoses that may benefit from use of the SaeboStim Micro include but are not limited to:

  • Stroke
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Spinal cord injury
  • MS
  • Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS)
  • ALS
  • Brachial plexus injuries
  • Hand injuries
  • RSD or CRPS
  • Raynaud’s

The onset of the injury does not prevent someone from receiving Saebo treatment. Whether the client just had a stroke, an orthopedic injury, or suffered an injury years ago, the SaeboStim Micro can be an effective treatment to help reduce pain and improve motor function

What can I (or my patient) expect?
  • You do not need a therapist to order the SaeboStim Micro. However, it will require a script from your (your client’s) physician.
  • The SaeboStim Micro is easy to apply and use, following the simple steps outlined in the manual. The manual also outlines different program settings to accommodate specific needs.
  • You (your client) will be in complete  control of the settings. Once the device is turned on, a mild tingling sensation will be felt as the intensity increases. The intensity can be reduced low enough that stimulation is not felt, but the device is still working behind the scenes. Although you do not feel the tingling, the stimulation is still penetrating the skin, delivering the current to the targeted areas.
  • The purpose of this device is not to produce movement in your hand. The purpose is to provide very low-level stimulation, which travels deep into your tissues and up to your brain.
  • This form of “non-movement” stimulation will assist in healing and improve areas such as spasticity, pain, and skin temperature, to name a few.
  • The SaeboStim Micro is designed to be worn at rest or while performing daily activities.
  • The SaeboStim Micro hand glove covers the entire hand for full stimulation.
  • Don’t just use the SaeboStim during physical therapy sessions. Like all medical treatments, the level of functional recovery cannot be guaranteed. However, the more motivated and compliant you are with the daily home program, the better your outcome.

Questions/comments for the client:

  • How are you spending your day training your arm and hand?
  • Are you stimulating your hand enough?
  • You will need a SaeboGlove or Flex to train your hand functionally, the SaeboStim Pro for strengthening, and the SaeboStim Micro for decreasing spasticity and improving muscle re-education. Of course, this will help reduce swelling and pain should those also be issues.

Why use the SaeboStim Micro?

  • Electro-Mesh glove provides complete stimulation to the entire hand.
  • Electro-Mesh sleeve distributes stimulation over a large portion of the upper arm and elbow.
  • World’s smallest stimulator offers advanced protocols for day and night-time use.
  • Stimulator attachment provides quick and convenient access to the unit during activities and at rest.
  • Decrease spasticity.
  • Decrease swelling and reduces pain.
  • Minimizes need for pain medicines.
  • Normalize hand temperature
  • No side effects.

Indications

The SaeboStim Micro is commonly recommended to patients by Neurologists, Orthopedic Surgeons, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Chiropractors, and other Physicians and Health Care Practitioners, and should be purchased on their order for use in the treatment and management of pain, spasticity, or similar concerns associated with neurological injuries.

Improve Function. Improve Life.

Impaired function from a neurological injury such as a stroke may result in both sensory and motor deficits. Limited use of the hand or arm can typically lead to impaired sensory communication to the brain (touch, feel, awareness of joint movement). With SES, the main goal is to maximize input by providing stimulation at a very low-level (i.e., without producing a muscle contraction). Improved outcomes are associated with increased excitability of the affected hemisphere. Interventions that focus on re-balancing the communication between both hemispheres are likely to lead to improved recovery. Priming is a technique used to enhance the brain’s ability to re-balance the two hemispheres post-stroke. Priming interventions include invasive and non-invasive techniques and can be administered before or during therapy.
