  • A Name You Can Trust – More doctors and hospitals recommend Saebo products for stroke rehabilitation than any other brand.
  • Backed by Research – To maximize recovery following a stroke (or other neurological injury), doctors understand the critical importance of “grasp and release” hand exercises. As the saying goes: “Use it or loose it”.  Using your hand throughout the day and during high-repetition therapy sessions builds new connections in the brain (cortical plasticity) and offsets the negative impacts of neglect (atrophy and spasticty) which can lead to a painful and useless “claw-fist.”Read about exciting new research featuring the SaeboGlove here
  • Patient-Based Design – Our products are developed by doctors and clinicians incorporating years of “hands-on” experience with patients just like you. Here are some of “patient-based” features you’ll find on our unique and patented SaeboGlove design:
  • Free Consultation & Support – The help you need is just a phone call away. Our team is always available to answer questions and offer expert advice.  We’re here for you every step of your recovery journey.

By purchasing this item, I agree that I have reviewed the patient criteria below and believe that I meet those criteria.

  1. With my fingers curled, I do feel some stiffness/resistance when attempting to stretch them open with my unaffected hand.
  2. I can place my affected hand and wrist flat on a table with palm facing down. I am aware that it is not designed for clients with very "tight" hands (unable to place hand/wrist flat on table).
  3. I understand that a prescription from my doctor is required if the SaeboStim One is to be used for any indication other than pain or muscle strengthening. Prescriptions may be faxed to Saebo at 855-414-0037 or emailed to sales@saebo.com.

What is Electrical Stimulation?

Electrical stimulation or neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) is a technique used to elicit a muscle contraction using electrical impulses. Electrodes, controlled by a unit, are placed on the skin over a predetermined area. Electrical current is then sent from the unit to the electrodes and delivered into the muscle causing a contraction.

Electrical stimulation has been shown to be an effective therapeutic option for individuals suffering from pain and weakness. Below are some of the benefits clients may experience:

  • Decrease pain
  • Muscle re-education and Strengthening
  • Increase range of motion
  • Increase circulation
  • Decrease spasticity
  • Reduce edema
  • Decrease inflammation
  • Improve overall function

Though electrical stimulation is safe to treat many conditions, contraindications do exist. Some of the common ones include:

  • Cardiac pacemaker or defibrillator
  • Clients prone to seizures

Avoid stimulation over:

  • Carotid sinus/anterior transcervical area
  • Heart transthoracic area
  • Abdominal, low back and pelvic area during pregnancy
  • Cancerous lesions
  • Superficial metal (e.g. staples, pins, external fixators)

What is Spasticity?

Spasticity is a neuromuscular condition usually caused by damage to the portion of the brain or spinal cord that controls voluntary movement. The damage causes a change in the balance of signals between the nervous system and the muscles. It is typically found in people with cerebral palsy, traumatic brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, and spinal cord injury.
